Texas Hold-Em Tournament: Queen of the Rosary Men's Club will hold a Texas Hold-Em tournament fundraiser 7 p.m. today at Queen of the Rosary School gymnasium, 690 Elk Grove, Blvd., Elk Grove Village. NSDAR Signal Hill Chapter: National Society Daughters of the American Revolution Signal Hill Chapter will announce the winners of its annual American History Essay and Good Citizen Award at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the Barrington Public Library, 505 N. Northwest Towns Sportsmen's Club: The Northwest Towns Sportsmen's Club will meet 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the American Legion hall, Miner and Douglas streets, Arlington Heights. TOPS 1846: TOPS IL 1846 Rolling Meadows will meet 7 p.m. Wednesday at Community Church of Rolling Meadows. Citizens for Conservation: Citizens for Conservation will hold its annual meeting Thursday at the Barrington Area Library, 505 N. Northwest Highway, Barrington. Don Coursey, professor at Harris Graduate School of Public Policy, will present "Operation Lifeboat: what gets saved?" Refreshments, displays and opportunities to visit with education birds from Flint Creek Wildlife Rehabilitation begins at 6:30 p.m., the program will be from 7-8:30 p.m. Bring one of the following items for donation to Flint Creek Wildlife Rehabilitation and Barnswallow: paper towels, bleach, anti-bacterial dish soap, wipes and spray, chemical-free laundry detergent, fleece blankets or nuts in the shell. Dance World: Dance World Dance Club will hold its next dance from 8:30-11:30 p.m. Feb. 9 at the Hoffman Estates Park District, 1685 W. Higgins Road, Hoffman Estates. Normennenes Singing Society: The Normennenes Singing Society will give a concert Feb. 9 at the Torsk Club luncheon at the Des Plaines Elks Club. The concert and lunch is $20 per person. Poetry workshop: Northwest Cultural Council's Second Saturday Poetry Workshop will be held from 9 a.m.-noon Feb. 9, at 5999 New Wilke Road, Suites 307 and 308, Rolling Meadows. Bring 12 copies of your own work to share with the group. The topic for the Feb. 9 meeting will be "The Poetry Home Repair Manual."

Polish Genealogical Society of America: Joseph W. Zurawski, author, educator and historian, will discuss his book "Polish Chicago, Our History, Our Recipes" at 2 p.m. Feb. 10, when the Polish Genealogical Society of America meets in the Social Hall of the Polish Museum of America, 984 N. Midwest Bassbusters: Midwest Bassbusters, a bass fishing club, is looking for new members, at any experience level. No boat is necessary. Mixed golf league: The Monday twilight mixed "fun golf" league is seeking new golfers. Discounted greens frees are available for non-residents of Prospect Heights Park District. Weekly contests are held with an annual tournament in September.
