Wrap: Clay Henricksen scores 29 as Grayslake N. wins
Grayslake North's boys basketball team has been snake-bitten a lot this season.
Clay Henricksen made sure the Knights would not be denied Tuesday night.
Henricksen scored a season-high 29 points to lead visiting Grayslake North to a 63-54 nonconference win over Round Lake.
Henricksen's point total was one shy of his career high set last season against Crystal Lake Central. He sank 10 shots from the floor and was 8 of 10 from the free-throw line.
Grayslake North (5-13) also received 11 points from Noel DeLaMar.
Round Lake (5-16) was led in scoring by Javier Martinez with 13 points. Vernon Randolph and David Windham had 11 and 10, respectively. Mike Mpokota chipped in 9. The Panthers again played without starting guard Jerome Brown.
Grayslake C. 47, VH 35: Andrew Sipes scored 13 points, as the Rams improved to 14-5 with the nonconference road win.
Grayslake Central also received 9 points from Alex Anderson, 8 from Mike Davis and 7 from Mike Brumm.
The Rams held the Cougars to 2 points in the second quarters and led 23-9 at halftime.
Vernon Hills (10-11) was paced by Kenny Rideout's 15 points. DaVaris Daniels added 14.
Girls basketball
Lake Forest 40, Lake Zurich 29: The visiting Scouts pulled off the North Suburban Lake upset, as Claire DiMario scored a game-high 11 points.
Jean Rebarchak added 9 for Lake Forest, which led 14-6 after one quarter and 26-13 at halftime.
Lake Zurich (18-9) received 6 points from Olivia Allen.
Wauconda 63, N. Chicago 58: Kate Martino scored a season-high 19 points, as the Bulldogs won at home in North Suburban Prairie Division play.
Lauren Mead (three 3-pointers) and Katie LePage each added 13 for Wauconda (11-11, 7-4), while Tammy Ellis had 9.
North Chicago's Tatiana Webb led all scorers with 20 points. Raven Snowden added 18.
Warren 67, Antioch 25: Sarah Boothe scored 24 points in the North Suburban Conference crossover, giving her 1,906 in her career.
Shana Shepherd added 11 for Warren (23-2), and Alex Booker had 9. Kristin Mierzejewski chipped in 7 points, while Megan Wozniak grabbed 6 rebounds. Boothe also had 8 rebounds and 6 blocked shots.
Antioch (11-13) got 12 points from Andi Potkonjak. Fellow freshman Lauren Tiffany had 6.
Grayslake C. 62, CL Central 47: Rachel Culp scored a season-high 20 points, as the host Rams won the Fox Valley Conference Fox Division game.
Grayslake Central (6-18, 2-5) jumped out to an 18-9 lead after one quarter, as Culp scored 7 points. The Rams led 30-20 at halftime and 46-38 after three quarters, then outscored Crystal Lake Central 16-9 in the fourth.
Brianne Anderson and Megan LeBaron added 8 points apiece in the win.
Libertyville 50, Z-B 49: Dana Eriksen scored 16 points and Ali Haws added 12 for the visiting Wildcats in the North Suburban Lake Division game.
Libertyville (11-14, 3-8) also received 8 points from Haley Walton.
Zion-Benton received 17 points from Brittany Simmons, 15 from Abby Hanson and 10 from Shanyel Jackson.
Mundelein 51, Stevenson 44: The Mustangs improved to 19-6 overall and 6-4 in the North Suburban Lake.
Stevenson fell to 10-17, 5-5.
Grayslake N./Round Lake ppd.: In order to allow its players to attend the wake of one of its students who passed away last weekend, Grayslake North has postponed its Thursday game against Round Lake.
The game has been rescheduled for Saturday, Feb. 9. The game will still be played at Grayslake North with the varsity game beginning at 1 p.m.

Robert Morris receives honor: Coach Larry Leon's Robert Morris team was recently recognized for its achievements in the classroom, as well as on the greens.
The team was ranked No. 1 in the nation for a combined GPA of 3.8 -- the highest of all teams at all NAIA member institutions.
Team members include Chris Meyers of Zion, Jason Ratsburg of Kenosha (Wis.), Andrew Lundin and Herving Sanchez of Round Lake, Erik Lindgren of Byron, Tony DiPersio of Antioch, Allyn Emmons of Peoria and Jaisu Sookhakitch of Gurnee.
