Briefs: Left-turn arrows coming
The Illinois Department of Transportation is installing protected left-turn arrows for northbound and southbound traffic at the intersection of Ogden Avenue/North Aurora Road and Raymond Drive in Naperville. IDOT expects to activate the arrows Friday, weather permitting. The city requested the arrows after a review of accident data at the intersection.
Give boundary input to 204
Indian Prairie Unit District 204 school board members on Monday set criteria and a timeline for determining new attendance boundaries. The administration now will draft a boundary proposal that will be distributed to the community Feb. 12. If you have a specific boundary plan or proposal element that you want to submit for review, send a proposal to Deputy Superintendent Kathryn Birkett by noon Feb. 7 at boundary-proposals@ipsd.org. Written electronic feedback also will be accepted between Feb. 12 and 16.
New United Way Web site
Naperville United Way has launched its newly designed Web site at www.napervilleunitedway.org. The new design features video testimonials from Naperville residents as well as news updates on the group's happenings. The site also offers the latest information on the agency's impact in Naperville.
'All American City' finalist
Lombard has been selected by the National Civic League as a finalist for the group's annual "All American City" award. This year marks the 58th anniversary of the award, which recognizes towns for their work in solving communitywide challenges through collaborative efforts.
Auxiliary scholarships
The Central DuPage Hospital Auxiliary will award scholarships to high school, college and graduate students interested in pursuing a career in health care. Scholarships will be given to students attending a college, university or graduate program in fall 2008. In order to qualify, students must document academic excellence, plan to pursue a career in health care and live within the service area of Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield. Scholarship guidelines and applications are available online beginning Friday at www.cdh.org. The completed application, personal statement, transcripts and reference letters are due March 31. Roselle hires cop, fireman
Roselle has a new police officer and firefighter. Both were sworn in this week. Officer James F. Nudera Jr., a 2002 graduate of Lake Park High School in Roselle, has a bachelor's in law enforcement from Western Illinois University and recently graduated from a police academy. Firefighter James Ryan Kelly recently graduated from Arlington Heights Fire Academy. He has a bachelor's degree in business management from Eastern Illinois University and a master's degree in public administration from Northern Illinois University. Kelly has worked full time with a private ambulance company in Schaumburg and part time with Prospect Heights Fire Protection District.
