McLeodUSA, a provider of IP-based telecommunications services for small, medium and multi-location businesses, promoted Sean Fleming to vice president of sales for Chicago, to oversee the company's sales activity statewide in Illinois. Fleming, who joined McLeodUSA in 2001, has more than 13 years of telecommunications industry experience. Additionally, Linda Frenk was named sales director for Oak Brook and other regions statewide, replacing Fleming. Frenk will lead a team of experienced telecommunications account executives and work to boost productivity and grow operations via telecommunications solutions and customer support.

Mobile Print Inc., a Mount Prospect-based full-service small format commercial printing firm, announced the addition of Raymond Mueller as an outside sales representative, and Vincent Franchi as lead printing press operator.

After 16 years of working in the restaurant industry, Nathan Rosenthal has joined his father, Fred, at The Rosenthal Group in St. Charles as a partner and marketing consultant. Rosenthal, who was most recently a chef de cuisine in a Schaumburg restaurant, joins the waste consulting firm to assist restaurants and other food related businesses in the management and coordination of waste programs.

Lavelle Law Ltd., Palatine, hired Amil Alkass to focus on matters of family law. Alkass, a 2003 graduate of John Marshall Law School, most recently practiced law at the Law Offices of Steven H. Mevorah and Associates in Lombard.

The Illinois CPA Society's women's executive committee and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants Work/Life Women's Initiative executive committee named the following as 2007 Women to Watch Award winners: Kapila Anand, CPA, partner, KPMG LLP; Mary Fuller, CPA, partner, Shepard, Schwartz & Harris LLP; Kelly Grier, CPA, partner, Ernst and Young LLP; and Linda Martin, CPA, senior manager, Clifton Gunderson LLP.

The American Society of Anesthesiologists appointed John A. Thorner executive vice president of the society's Park Ridge-based executive office. Thorner, who most recently served as executive director of the National Recreation and Park Association of Ashburn, Va., has 26 years of association and public affairs experience.

Sandra Westlund-Deenihan of Streamwood has joined the board of trustees of Hanover Township. Westlund-Deenihan, president and design engineer of Quality Float Works Inc., will served as liaison on the youth and family services committee.

With over 25 years of architecture, construction and retail development experience, James Conroy has joined Casto Lifestyle Properties, Mount Prospect, as director of development, to lead the Randhurst Mall redevelopment effort. Conroy is a licensed architect and real estate broker, and a native of Mount Prospect.

The Community House, Hinsdale, hired Naperville resident Heather Graves as director of development, responsible for developing and implementing strategies and plans for both annual and capital fundraising efforts. Graves is the immediate past chief executive officer and former director of development for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of East Tennessee.

Stephanie Walsh, assistant professor of criminal justice at Aurora University, was among the presenters at the American Society of Criminology national conference in Atlanta. Walsh gave two presentations, "Perceptions of Law Enforcement Administrators Regarding the Detection and Prosecution of Cyber-Criminals" and "Cheating Online: Results of Self-Report Surveys of Academic Dishonesty Among Undergraduates in Online Courses."

The Illinois Pharmacists Association presented Midwestern University Chicago College of Pharmacy graduate Ed Cohen with its Innovative Pharmacy Practice Award, for his ability to bring pharmaceutical care to the forefront of community pharmacy practice. Cohen is chairman of the Midwestern University Alumni Senate and an adjunct faculty member at Midwestern University and the University of Illinois at Chicago. He serves as director of the Retrospective Drug Utilization Review clinical operations at Walgreens Health Initiatives.

Slated for a February opening, KeyLime Cove Water Resort, Gurnee, announced the following new additions to its executive team: Christine Trippi of Lake in the Hills, director of entertainment and training; Sarah Moore of Roselle, director of aquatics; Mark Haubrich of Grayslake, director of public security; and Cindi Schweitzer, spa director.

David Kujawa of South Elgin, an agent with Country Insurance and Financial Services, was honored with the company's Community Service Award for his volunteer service with the Boys and Girls Club of Elgin. Kujawa has volunteered with the club for four years and serves on the auxiliary board committee. He also served as co-chairman of the Elgin Duck Race, the club's largest fundraiser. Kujawa is also a court-appointed special advocate and guardian ad litem for abused and neglected children with the Kane County juvenile court system.

Re/Max Northern Illinois, Elgin, named Jennifer McLean of Gilberts as a franchise sales consultant. McLean has five years' experience in real estate, having previously worked in the sales organizations of two leading homebuilders, Ryland Homes and Concord Homes. She will work with individuals interested in becoming owners of a Re/Max franchise in northern Illinois.

Duane L Burnham was elected to the board of directors of ACCO Brands Corp., Lincolnshire, a maker of branded office products. Burnham is the retired chairman and chief executive officer of Abbott Laboratories Inc., a global health-care firm.
