The briefs: Trustee guilty in DUI case

A Mundelein village trustee has been found guilty of driving under the influence of alcohol, officials confirmed Thursday. Jim Nutschnig, 61, was sentenced Dec. 19 to one year of supervision and fined $750, according to Lake County circuit court records. Nutschnig, a village board trustee since 1991, was arrested early Nov. 13 in Vernon Hills. He had been drinking at a Mundelein bar with another trustee after a board meeting, he told the Daily Herald after his arrest. Nutschnig could not be reached for comment Thursday.

House candidate off ballot

A Moderate Party candidate seeking to represent the 8th Congressional District has been bounced from the Feb 5 primary ballot. The Illinois State Board of Elections upheld the challenge the Iain Abernathy's candidate petitions. The seat now is held by two-term Democrat Melissa Bean. Abernathy of Round Lake could not be reached for comment. Bean, another Democrat and three Republicans remain in the running for the post. The 8th District includes northwest Cook, western Lake and eastern McHenry counties.

Round Lake chamber expo

The Round Lake Area Chamber of Commerce is looking for businesses to sign up for the Round Lake Area Expo. The expo will be held April 19. Businesses interested in obtaining a booth at the expo can get an early bird deal of $225. That price includes a 6- by 8-foot booth, a table and two chairs along with advertising. Fox Lake screening

The Lake Forest Care Coach will be at the Fox Lake Lakefront Park building Jan. 21, 2:30 to 4:30 p.m., to conduct free health-care screenings. The park building is at 71 Nippersink Road.
