Movers and shakers

Network Services Co., Mount Prospect, promoted Mike Johnson of Geneva to chief financial officer. Johnson previously served as vice president of finance and operations for the international organization of independent distributors, which sells janitorial supplies, foodservice disposables, industrial packaging products and printing materials.

Inverness resident Gerald E. Goettsche, a consulting engineer and former president of Consulting Engineers Group, Mount Prospect; and Henry G. Russell, an engineering consultant with Henry G. Russell Inc., Glenview, were named fellows of the Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute.

Tracey Bell joined Fromm International, Northbrook, as business manager for its newly acquired Perfect Results brand. Fromm previously served with Sears Holdings Co., where she was a marketing planner for Kmart.

With 12 years of retail banking experience, Jennifer Straka was appointed assistant vice president and district manager for Fifth Third Bank's far west region. Prior to joining Fifth Third, Straka held numerous roles at J.P. Morgan Chase.

Gordon Held of Grayslake joined Moore Landscapes Inc., Northbrook, as vice president of new business development. Held, who has 16 years of management experience, most recently served as the branch manager of TruGreen LandCare in Lincolnshire.

Leaders Bank appointed Nancy Lindamood vice president and banking center manager of its Hoffman Estates branch. Lindamood becomes responsible for the day-to-day operational activities of the commercial banking center, is the point of contact for existing and new customers and serves as a liaison to the community.

Comcast, Schaumburg, promoted Jason Gumbs of Chicago to area vice president. He leads a team of 900 employees and has overall responsibility for the area's financial and operating performance.

Elk Grove Village native Scott Peterson joined Peninsula Regional Medical Center as vice president of human resources.

Rick Schwer, vice president and group publisher for Scranton Gillette Communications, Arlington Heights, was elected to the board of directors for FMA Communication Inc., the publishing affiliate of the Fabricators & Manufactures Association International.

The American Cancer Society's Illinois division named Debra Cohen of Wheeling, a 12-year society volunteer, chairman. Alan Lev of Northbrook, president of the Belgravia Group Ltd., was named second vice chairman on the board of directors.

St. Charles resident Dr. Kristen M. Counts joined the department of Family Medicine at Dreyer Medical Clinic. Counts, who has five years of experience as a family physician and sees patients at the clinic's West Aurora location, is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the American Medical Association.

Naperville resident Donald A. O'Day was appointed executive vice president, commercial banking at Suburban Bank and Trust, Elmhurst. O'Day, an Elmhurst native, previously served as senior vice president and head of business banking for the Illinois region of Banco Popular North America.

Additionally, Suburban Bank & Trust appointed Joe Kirkeeng executive vice president, retail banking. Kirkeeng most recently served as executive vice president at Republic Bank.

Baxter & Woodman Inc. promoted senior engineer Carl F. Fischer to wastewater department manager and Carolyn A. Grieves to water department manager. Fischer, whose technical expertise includes wastewater, potable water and stormwater projects, has more than 30 years of experience. Grieves, who joined the firm in 1996, focuses on the design of water supply, treatment and distribution systems.

With 20 years of professional experience, Don Sharp joins Navistar International Corp., Warrenville, as vice president and chief information officer. For the past nine months, Sharp worked as a consultant, serving as Navistar's program manager on restatement re-audit efforts.

Wilton Products Inc., Woodridge, promoted Karen Swinford to senior vice president, housewares, a newly created position. Swinford will assume complete responsibility for the Copco business unit in addition to retaining the Wilton enterprise houseware teams.

The National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors honored Michael Zaur of Naperville, a Naperville-based Country Insurance & Financial Services agent, with its National Multiline Sales Award.

Alden Naperville Rehabilitation and Health Care Center appointed Naperville resident Jeff Russell administrator, responsible for overseeing the facility, managing day-to-day operations and providing leadership support to the staff.
