Hotel offers girls a chance to win Hannah Montana tickets
Miley Cyrus stars in Disney Channel's "Hannah Montana."
If you're having a hard time finding the $4,500 necessary to put your daughter in ninth row at Saturday's Hannah Montana concert, Bloomingdale's got you covered.
With StubHub posting single tickets ranging from $80 in the second balcony of Allstate Arena to $4,500 for ninth row, parents are scrambling for alternatives to satisfy young fans of the Disney Channel's star.
Chicago Hilton/Indian Lakes Resort is hosting a Friday evening Hannah Montana Pop Star Party from 5 to 8 p.m., where party goers have a shot to win a pair of tickets and limousine service to Saturday's sold-out concert.
Meanwhile, Fandango is reporting that presale tickets for the Feb. 1-8 showing of "Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert in Disney Digital 3D" already account for a whopping 46 percent of the Web site's ticket sales.
"It's way ahead of 'Enchanted,' which is No. 2, and 'Beowulf' and 'Golden Compass,' which is interesting," said Fandango spokesman Harry Medved.
"We don't have any Chicago-area show times that are sold out as of yet, but the sales are certainly brisk."
Century Theater at Stratford Square, Kerasotes Naperville Showplace 16, AMC Loews Streets of Woodfield in Schaumburg and Regal Lincolnshire 20 in Lincolnshire are the area theaters showing the film, which opens Feb. 1. At the Stratford Square theaters, the movie is scheduled to show 10 times a day throughout the week.
"Hannah Montana," starring Miley Cyrus, is a Disney Channel series about a teen who lives the life of a regular girl who disguises herself with a blonde wig to become pop sensation Hannah Montana.
The 54-city "Best of Both Worlds" tour, which comes to Allstate Arena Saturday, opened in October and sold out within minutes. Many of the tickets were snatched up by brokers.
Nikki Buman of Galena wasn't able to get tickets to the Oct. 20 Moline concert and refused to pay scalper prices when she learned the Chicago show was also sold out. Her failure won her the title of "bad mom for the week" by her 8-year-old daughter, Chloe.
To redeem herself, Nikki is bringing Chloe to Friday night's party at Indian Lakes.
"I had to do something to make things right, and my friend, who lives in Bloomingdale, e-mailed me to tell me about the Hannah Montana party at the hotel," Buman said.
"It's close. It'll be a fun time. These kids, you know, they all have to have what everyone else has and go where everyone else goes."
Lombard resident Kim Campbell managed to get face-value tickets to the Moline show. She couldn't get them for Saturday's Rosemont concert, but has been trying to win tickets to bring her daughter, Nicole, to a second concert on the tour.
Seven-year-old Nicole already has her ticket for the Feb. 2 showing of the 3-D film in Bloomingdale. And Kim plans to check the availability of the Indian Lakes $149 party.
She doesn't mind supporting Nicole's enthusiasm for the show and the music by Miley Cyrus, daughter of Billy Ray Cyrus. In fact, Kim's even become a fan herself, claiming to be able to win any Hannah trivia contest.
"There are a lot worse things she could be watching, and Hannah is actually a pretty good show," she said. "I think it's good, clean fun and a show about staying grounded in a crazy world."
Staying grounded is the last thing Nicole said she would be doing if her family happens to win actual concert tickets in the meantime.
"I'll scream and jump up and down and my dad will scream and we'll all be really happy," she said. "Her songs are really cool and the show deals with her real life. And I understand the things she goes through sometimes."
Anyone attending the Hannah Montana Pop Star Party will be stars for the night, starting with glamorous rock-star makeovers.
Guests also will enjoy crafts, including the chance to decorate notebooks and picture frames, a Dance-Dance Revolution contest and a variety of snacks.
Hannah Montana's co-star, Mitchel Musso who plays Oliver, also will be at the party signing autographs.
As of Tuesday afternoon, some party packages were still available by calling the resort at (630) 529-0200 or by visiting the Hilton Chicago/Indian Lakes Resort Web site, www.HiltonIndianLakes.com.
