St. Hubert's Ministry Center, 729 Grand Canyon, Hoffman Estates, offers a nondenominational job and networking ministry that is free and open to all occupations. The ministry offers the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of careering and get in-depth knowledge of career topics from seminars and meetings as well as learn the process of networking. About seven Kingswood United Methodist church volunteers loaded more than 3,000 books in 175 boxes into a truck recently to start a library inside the Oxford Federal Prison in Oxford, WI. The book drive began Oct. 15 and hundreds of paperbacks, hardcover, non-fiction, fiction and reference books poured in from the community. Friends of the Library from Indian Trails, Arlington Heights and Mount Prospect donated and hand-selected many books. In 2007, CCHD distributed $533,000 to 24 organizations that are addressing the root causes of poverty with seniors, youth, immigrants, workers and the disabled in Cook and Lake counties. This year's Catholic Campaign for Human Development collection will take place the weekend of Nov. 17-18 at 363 Archdiocesan parishes.
