• Keith Swaback of Kildeer, a student in the School of Engineering & Applied Science at Washington University, St. Louis, Mo., was named to the 2007 spring dean's list for earning a semester grade point average of 3.6 or above. Swaback is a graduate of Adlai E. Stevenson High School in Lincolnshire.

• Jack Zhou of Lake Zurich, a student in the School of Engineering & Applied Science at Washington University, St. Louis, Mo., was named to the 2007 spring dean's list for earning a semester grade point average of 3.6 or above. Zhou is a graduate of Lake Zurich Senior High School.

• Justin Seccombe, son of Charles Tomlinson Seccombe and Renee Livalsi Seccombe of Kildeer, received a bachelor of arts degree May 16 from Emory College of Emory University in Atlanta, Ga.

• Brendan F. Colson, son of Irene and Russell Ducharme of Wauconda, was named to the University of Chicago Dean's List for the 2006-07 academic year for achieving a 3.25 grade point average or above after completion of at least nine courses. Colson, a 2006 graduate of Wauconda High School, is now a second year student majoring in biology.

• Jamie Balke, daughter of Philip Lloyd Balke and Mary Happ Balke of Libertyville, graduated with a bachelor of arts degree May 16 from Emory College, the undergraduate, liberal arts college at Emory University in Atlanta, Ga. Balke was also named to the spring 2007 semester dean's list of Emory College.

• Jordan Sadecki, daughter of William and Ellen Sadecki of Lindenhurst, was inducted into the Alpha Chi honor society at Wartburg College, Waverly, Iowa. The national organization promotes academic excellence and exemplary character among college and university students in all disciplines and honors those who achieve such distinction.

• Erin Taylor, daughter of Anna and Mark Taylor of Gurnee, was named to the 2007 spring dean's list at North Central College, Naperville, for maintaining a grade-point average of 3.6 for the term.

• Jeffrey Samotny, son of Marc Z. Samotny and Kay Samotny of Riverwoods, received a bachelor of arts degree May 16 from Emory College of Emory University in Atlanta, Ga.

• Katherine Meyer, daughter of Dr. Michael David Meyer and Dr. Elizabeth Jacqueline Mury Meyer of Lake Villa, graduated May 16 with a bachelor of arts degree May 16 from Emory College of Emory University in Atlanta, Ga. She was also named to the spring 2007 semester dean's list for earning a semester grade point average of 3.6 or above.

• Christina Mathieson of Vernon Hills received a master of theological studies degree May 16 from the Candler School of Theology of Emory University in Atlanta, Ga.

• Sam Stahnke of Round Lake Park, a student in School of Engineering & Applied Science at Washington University, St. Louis, Mo., was named to the 2007 spring dean's list for earning a semester grade point average of 3.6 or above.

• Northern Illinois University in DeKalb awarded master's degrees to the following students at the May 12 commencement ceremonies.
