Briefs: Exelon honored for annual report

CHICAGO -- The Chicago chapter of the National Investor Relations Institute on Thursday named Exelon among its top ten area companies for financial reporting, an honor recognizing annual reports. Anheuser-Busch of St. Louis topped the list selected from nearly 700 Midwestern companies. Other area companies cited include unincorporated Libertyville Township-based Abbott Laboratories; Aptar Group in Crystal Lake; Tellabs in Naperville; and Zebra Technologies in Vernon Hills.

SmartSignal gains hydroelectric bid

LISLE -- SmartSignal Corp. on Thursday announced it was selected by the largest utility in British Columbia, BC Hydro, to install its SmartSignal Advanced Asset Analytic application to predict, diagnose and prioritize operations. The predictive analytics firm, SmartSignal, is based in Lisle.

MUNDELEIN -- Sysmex America Inc. on Thursday announced the establishment of Sysmex Canada Inc. Sysmex Canada will switch its business from its current Canadian distributor and begin operations in Toronto in January, said the U.S. subsidiary of Kobe, Japan-based Sysmex Corp. Carl Rocha, a veteran marketer in the diagnostics market, has been named as its general manager. Sysmex is a maker and distributor of clinical laboratory products.
