Send care packages to our troops

A parent has started a Support Your Troops care package drive at Greenbrook Elementary School in Hanover Park. A donation bag will be inside each classroom until Friday. Students can bring in food, toiletries, entertainment items, books, magazines and are encouraged to write letters to troops. The class that collects the most items will win a pizza party with a former Greenbrook student and Marine, LCpl. Adam Chapman, currently serving in Iraq. Dominick's to donate to groups

Dominick's Finer Foods will have a grand re-opening of its store at 144 S. Gary Ave., Bloomingdale at 3:30 p.m. Friday, with a store-wide preview party from 4 to 8 p.m. The re-opening will unveil Dominick's new Lifestyle format that includes a new décor, and a broader selection of organic, natural and healthy foods. At the re-opening, Dominick's will give a $5,000 donation check to the DuPage County Department of Health, Breast and Cervical Cancer Program, as well as a $500 donation to the Lake Park High School Choral Group. St. Luke's to have final history class

The Lutheran Church of St. Luke, celebrating its 100th anniversary, will have a final class on the history of the congregation at 9:15 a.m. Sunday at The Lutheran Church and School of St. Luke, 410 S. Rush St., Itasca. Contents of a time capsule within a cornerstone of the building will be updated, and the cornerstone will be replaced. For details, call Pastor McReynolds at (630) 773-0396.

Learn harvest facts in Roselle

The Roselle Public Library will host a "Harvest Time" program for children from 4:30 to 5:15 p.m. Nov. 15 at the library, 40 S. Park St., Roselle. It's designed for children in kindergarten through second grade. The program will focus on stories about harvesting crops and creating a garden harvest mobile. Clubs can decorate a holiday tree

Youth groups, scouts and school clubs in Roselle are invited to participate in the village's annual holiday tree decorating program. Each group will have a chance to decorate its own tree which will later by displayed outside village. Deadline to sign up is Nov. 19. Decorating will begin that week. Meet Rose Queen and hear tales

The Roselle Public Library will host a special show featuring a ventriloquist, singer and storyteller at 1 p.m. Nov. 24 at the library, 40 S. Park St., Roselle. Sandi Sylver will present "Mrs. Claus Live! Tales of the North Pole." Refreshments will be served. After the show, the 2007 Rose Queen Elizabeth Necka, will greet children.
