Wood Dale scare walk is a chilling good time
Wood Dale's scariest ghouls will be invading the Cabin Nature Center Saturday, and they'd kill for you to join them.
The city's bravest ghost hunters are invited to the Wood Dale Park District's annual Scare Walk from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the nature center grounds, 111 S. Wood Dale Road. The haunting will take place rain or shine.
Parks spokeswoman Julie Sullinger said she's already seen some of the creatures preparing several of the buildings on the nature center grounds, as well as a portion of the White Oaks Nature Trail for their guests' arrival.
"It's pretty scary over here," Sullinger said, noting the 12 scary scenes being prepared. "I hope the guests are brave this year."
Most of this year's scenes, she said, are new while a few old favorites are returning. New this year will be the large movie screen entertaining guests as they wait in line.
"We'll be showing clips from everyone's favorite scary movies to get them excited and ready for the scares waiting for them inside," she said.
Sullinger said visitors who move through the haunted scenes quickly should be able to escape in about 15 minutes -- unless they get headed off inside by an angry ghost.
The event is recommended for children older than 10, but Sullinger said ghosts will turn no victims away regardless of their age.
The fee for the haunted house is $3 per person and free for children younger than 4. Hot chocolate and soda will be sold at the nature center.
