Students show off their films

The Eight Annual ARTimation digital film festival --showcasing the best work of students and recent graduates of the Illinois Institute of Art in Schaumburg -- starts at 4:30 p.m. today at the AMC 30 South Barrington Theaters, 175 Studio Drive, South Barrington.

Admission is free!

This year's judges include representatives from Disney Animation Studio, Cartoon Network, Subliminal Pictures, Cryptic Studios, Midway Games, Apple, AREA 51 and Rachelle Lewis Talent.

Walt Disney director Kevin Deters also will preview his new Goofy short.

Works will be displayed by local students, including Amber Leucht and Linnae Reid of Carpentersville, Bruce Lin of Wheeling, Joe Garhan of Naperville, Marcin Klejnowski of Bensenville, Jace Steenbarger and Nick Greenlee of Schaumburg, Mark Concialdi of Prospect Heights, Mike Avello of Addison, Juan Barba and Jaroslaw Gorzkowski of Des Plaines, Kat Carolan of Glen Ellyn, Joe Imhoff and Jake Infusino of Elgin, Karlene Gordula of Morton Grove, John Holst of Hanover Park, Bobby Riesterer of Northlake, Rick Lethert of Hoffman Estates, Sandy Thorpe of River Forest, Mig Reyes of Glendale Heights, Nick Santore of Lombard, Mario Lucero of Melrose Park, and Monica Realy of Marengo.
