Get your tickets for dinner, show
To raise funds, St. Walter's Catholic School in Roselle will host a dinner and comedy show for adults Oct. 27 at the school, 201 W. Maple Ave., Roselle.
A buffet-style dinner will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m., followed by a production of "Sister Bernie's Bingo Bash," an interactive bingo game and comedy show.
Tickets cost $40 per person, $35 for senior citizens and must be ordered by today. Attendees must be 21 or older. For tickets, call Carol Wojda at (630) 529-1721.
See value of humor at laugh program
Colleen Caron, a certified laugh therapist, will give a free presentation on the therapeutic value of humor at 6:30 p.m. today at Bloomingdale Public Library, 101 Fairfield Way, Bloomingdale.
Caron will demonstrate how to use humor to improve your health and well-being, and the benefits of humor in the workplace and family situations.

Learn about life on the Erie Canal
Life on the Erie Canal will be the presentation at 7 p.m. today at Itasca Community Library, 500 W. Irving Park Road, Itasca. John Lynn will share his travel adventures and show a view by canoe of the 338 scenic miles of the canal that opened a water route to the American west. Registration is required. Book group to look at the horror genre
Fireside Fiction, a monthly discussion about the fiction genre, will be at 7 p.m. today at Bensenville Community Public Library, 200 S. Church Road, Bensenville. October's focus is horror fiction.
Bring your favorite horror novel to share or come learn about the genre for the first time. Participants will leave with a suggested reading list.

Volunteers needed to help spruce up
Volunteers are being sought for Bloomingdale Park District's next Volunteer Day from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Springfield Park, 269 Springfield Drive, Bloomingdale.
Volunteers will help with invasive plant removal, harvesting seeds from native plants, painting ceramic tiles for a mural, cleaning up the park and preparing planting pots for a local nursing home.

Buy holiday items during craft show
A craft show will be from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday at Bloomingdale Public Library, 101 Fairfield Way, Bloomingdale.
Items include baby and juvenile items, table dressings and home décor items, stockings and ornaments, gourd arrangements and pine cone wreaths, wall hangings and other items.
