Lake in the Hills Parks and Recreation notes
For youth
Basketball fifth and sixth grades: The Lake in the Hills Parks & Recreation Department is looking for fifth- and sixth-grade girls and boys to play some recreational basketball in a fun learning environment. Teams will practice and play games with teams from Hampshire and Genoa Recreation agencies. Fee includes jersey, referees, gym time, and an award for each child. Practices for boys is from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays. Practice for girls is 6 to 8 p.m. Thursdays.
Optional open gym practices will be available Monday evenings after your first team practice.
Home games will take place at Hannah Martin Elementary School on Saturdays starting Nov. 10. Fees are $85 for residents and $110 for nonresidents. Registration deadline is Sunday.
Playschool Academy Open House: The Lake in the Hills Parks Recreation Department invites you to drop by the new Playschool Academy Open House from 10 a.m. to noon on Oct. 13.
View the newly remodeled facility, enjoy refreshments, and meet the preschool staff. There is still space available in the 3- and 4-year-old preschool program as well as the Just For Me classes for ages 2½ to 3½ years old held on Mondays. Registration is open to residents and nonresidents.
Tater Tot Playdates: Rain, rain, go away or we'll just stay inside to play.
Join the Lake in the Hills Parks and Recreation Department to connect with other moms, dads and caregivers while your little ones make friends and have fun playing. Gym mats and limited toys will be available. Feel free to bring your child's favorite toy.
Playtime is 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Oct. 11 and 25 in the Multipurpose room for ages birth to 5. Fee is $2/child for both residents and nonresidents.
For adults
Football Widows Club: Ladies, this is one time you'll gladly relinquish the remote. Let your significant other, disguised as a couch potato, hang out at home watching the game while you and your friends have a girls' day out.
The Parks and Recreation Department of Lake in the Hills has fueled up the bus for a day of serious fun at the Galena Country Fair. Browse the arts and crafts tables, visit the farmers market, pursue your passion for fine arts, or just sit back and relax to the live entertainment while enjoying some great food
The bus leaves at 8:30 a.m. sharp Sunday from Village Hall, 600 Harvest Gate. The group will return around 6 p.m.
Resident rate is $9 nonresident rate is $11. Fee includes transportation only.
