As Gold as Gold to be at Petco

As Good as Gold Golden Retriever Rescue of Northern Illinois will have a meet and greet from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Petco, 412 W. Army Trail Road, Bloomingdale. Itasca fire house to hold open house

Itasca Fire Protection District will have an open house from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at the fire station, 520 W. Irving Park Road, Itasca.

In addition to a tour of the fire station, children and adults will have the opportunity to spray a real fire hose, slide down a fire pole, learn safety in the Safety House and operate a hands-on 911 simulator.

There also will be face painting, food, drinks and more. Kids can bring there teddy bear and visit the Mobile Intensive Bear Unit to learn basic first aid skills.

Lioness club to do Candlelight Bowl

The Wood Dale Lioness Club will hold its seventh annual Candlelight Bowl fundraiser at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Wood Dale Bowl, 155 E. Irving Park Road, Wood Dale.

Tickets cost $25 each, which includes four games, dinner and prizes. Raffle tickets will be sold at the event. Proceeds benefit Lioness charities.

Storyteller to tell tales from frontier

Trinity Lutheran School in Roselle will host a family reading night from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the school, 405 S. Rush St., Roselle.

A storyteller dressed as Laura Ingalls Wilder from the TV show "Little House on the Prairie" will talk about life on the frontier.

This program is for children in kindergarten through eighth grade. Admission is free. For details, call (630) 529-1701.
