Events at Cantigny

Cantigny will present the following programs at 1S151 Winfield Road, Wheaton.

Admission for most programs is free; however, there is a parking fee. The fee is $7 Tuesday through Friday and $8 Saturday and Sunday. A twilight fee after 4 p.m. is $4 Tuesday through Friday and $5 Saturday and Sunday. The annual parking pass for one year is $55, with an additional one for $7.

A tram service is available during regular hours from 9 a.m. to sunset leaving from the visitors center kiosk. Reservations are required for most programs.

Forest hike: Outdoor discoveries will be the focus of a Forest Smarts Hike for Boy Scouts to complete the Forestry Merit Badge at 3 p.m. Saturday beginning at the visitors center. All interested youth may attend. There is no fee but the parking fee applies.

Car show: The second annual auto show with food, entertainment and prizes will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. The parking fee applies.

Pumpkin contest: The Great Pumpkin Decorating contest will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 6 at the visitors center. To enter, the pumpkin must have been carved or painted prior to bringing it to the park. Prizes will be awarded. Deadline to register is Oct. 5. There is no charge to enter the contest but the parking fee applies.

Fall Festival: The annual fall celebration includes hayrides, music, pumpkin decorating and scarecrow making from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 6. Pumpkins for painting start at $1. Those making scarecrows must provide the garments. The parking fee applies.

Pumpkin heads: Children ages 8 and older with an adult helper can create a Zany mini-Pumpkin Hair Head at 9:30 a.m. Oct. 20 at the greenhouse. Reservations are suggested by calling (630) 668-5161. The fee is $15.
