Round-up: Batavia, Geneva win WSC matches

Batavia's girls volleyball team has won their last 3 matches to move over .500 for the first time this year in the Western Sun Conference after beating Rochelle 25-14, 22-25, 25-13 Tuesday in Batavia.

The key to Game 1 was the Bulldogs' serving. They had 5 aces, 3 of which were provided by Lauren Mytnik.

"(Serving) was a big reason why Rochelle couldn't get their offense going," Batavia coach Lori Trippi-Payne said. "They couldn't do anything."

The Bulldogs (6-5, 4-1) bounced back after a Game 2 loss with a Game 3 win, fueled by kills and blocks.

"We came together offensively," Trippi-Payne said.

Batavia posted 30 kills in three games, 14 in Game 3. Laura Doolin led the way with 12 kills to go with her 6 digs.

Melissa Norville finished with 7 kills and 2 aces, Mytnik added 4 aces, 5 digs and 1 kill and Kristin Hoffman tallied 25 assists, 8 digs, 2 aces and 2 kills.
