Trash bin deadline looms
All trash bins in Lake in the Hills must be screened off by Friday, village officials said. Property owners were given a one-year grace period after the village board approved the screening ordinance last September. If trash bins are not screened after the Friday deadline, property owners will be given 30 days to comply, after which they will be ticketed. Containers must be located on an approved hard surface and hidden on three sides by a six-foot screen consisting of treated wood, PVC board, slatted mesh or masonry material. The fourth side must be secured by a gate that must be closed at all times, except when in use for collection. Call the community development department at (847) 960œ7440.
