Help Marklund and get free fries

Marklund McFryday, Marklund's inaugural fundraiser in partnership with McDonald's, will be from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. today at the corner of Bloomingdale Road and Lake Street in Bloomingdale.

Volunteers will be collecting small-change donations from drivers, pedestrians and shoppers at the intersection in exchange for a coupon for free McDonald's French fries.

Proceeds will help Marklund, a not-for-profit organization with locations in Bloomingdale and Geneva, continue to provide quality, compassionate care for people with disabilities. For details, e-mail Jackie Day at jday@marklund.org or call (630) 593-5473.

St. Peter in Itasca to hold its resale

St. Peter the Apostle's annual Children's Clothing Re-Sale will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in the Iris Room at Itasca Park District, 350 E. Irving Park Road, Itasca.

The sale will offer gently-used children and adult clothing, including some designer and store labels. Children's accessories and toys also will be available.

UCC churches to host craft show

A craft show and flea market hosted by the United UCC Churches of Bensenville will be from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday at St. John's Church, 601 N. Route 83, Bensenville. Peace and Immanuel United Churches of Christ are the other two co-hosts. For details, call (630) 766-3848.

Wear bad pants to Bears golf outing

The 2007 Dennis McKinnon's Celebrity Bad Pants Open Golf Tournament will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the golf course at Indian Lakes Resort, 250 W. Schick Road, Bloomingdale. Shotgun start is at 11 a.m.

Put on your worst pair of pants and join Bear greats from the 1985 Super Bowl championship team and other years.

The cost is $250 for a single golfer or $100 for the post-golf dinner and silent auction. For details, call (630) 529-0200.

Itasca fitness club to do 5K run, walk

Goality Fitness Club in Itasca will host a 5K Fun Run/2K Fitness Walk to benefit the Children's Advocacy Center in Hoffman Estates at 8:30 a.m. Sept. 29 at the Spring Creek Reservoir in Bloomingdale.
