Master gardeners to offer you tips
DuPage County Master Gardeners from University of Illinois Extension DuPage in Naperville will answer gardening questions for free from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Roselle Public Library, 40 S. The Renditions to perform concert
The Renditions will perform a free outdoor concert at 7 p.m. today at Old Town Park, 111 Third St., Bloomingdale. The six-piece band performs music from the '50s, '60s and '70s. For details, call (630) 529-3650.
District 11 to offer screenings for kids
A free preschool screening is being offered by Medinah School District 11 from 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Medinah Primary School, 22W300 Sunnyside, Roselle.
Children ages 3 and 4 will be screened for physical development, intellectual level, social development, speech and language skills, perceptual skills, vision and hearing.

Library staff to talk about latest fiction
New Book Wednesday will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Bensenville Community Public Library, 200 S. Church Road, Bensenville. Library staff will talk about the newest adult fiction titles before they hit the library's shelves in September. Take your best shot for photo contest
The second annual "Unveil Bloomingdale" photography contest for amateur photographers has an entry deadline of Saturday.
Images should illustrate how parks and open spaces benefit the lives of residents of Bloomingdale Park District. All entries must be photographed at Bloomingdale parks and recreation facilities, and can be during park district programs or events.
Photos must identify if they were taken with a digital or 35mm camera, if the photo has been enhanced in any way and the location where it was taken. Color, black-and-white and digitally enhanced photos are all acceptable.
Submissions must be 8-by-10 inches and matted. Entry forms are available at Johnston Recreation Center, 172 S. Circle Ave., Bloomingdale. For details, call Ed Reidy at (630) 529-3650.
Roselle library to host tales for tots
Sleepytime Tales, an evening storytime with parent participation for children ages 6 to 35 months old, will be from 6:45 to 7:15 p.m. Thursdays, Sept. 6 to Oct. 11, at Roselle Public Library, 40 S. Park St., Roselle.
The storytime features stories, songs and verse for very young children. Registration for the six-week session is required.
