Classic winner: Tri-Cities won the 12-year-old age division in the Sixth Annual Bartlett Summer Classic held at Ruzicka field in Bartlett. Tri-Cities won the championship game 11-6 against Bartlett American. Three of Tri-Cities' five tournament wins were walk-off home runs.

Basketball

Girls clinic: Girls interested in playing basketball this winter for the Conant High School feeder program is welcome to attend a free basketball clinic from 1 to 3 p.m. Sept. 8 at Conant High School, 700 E. Cougar Trail, Hoffman Estates. Dan Travers, head coach for girls varsity basketball at Conant will conduct the clinic, assisted by coaches of the feeder program.

The clinic is open to all fifth-, sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade girls residing in the Conant High School area. Tryouts will be held later in September and October.

3-on-3 tourney: Prospect High School Athletic Boosters will sponsor its annual preseason 3-on-3 basketball tournament Oct. 14 at Prospect High School, 801 W. Kensington Road, Mount Prospect.

The tournament is open to boys and girls in fourth through 12th grade. There will be separate brackets for each age group, except for high school juniors and seniors who will be combined.

Teams forming: Next Level Basketball Academy, located in the Schaumburg and Hoffman Estates area, is now forming fall and winter basketball teams for boys in fifth to 10th grade. Softball

Players wanted: The Mid-Suburban Panthers 16U Fastpitch Softball team seeks players to fill its roster. There will be fall weekend workouts, games on Sundays with available players and winter workouts on Sunday nights.

Occasional dome ball games will be held Saturday nights against top area teams from mid-November until the end of February. A full tournament schedule of National Qualifiers starts in mid-June, followed by the "A" level Nationals at the end of the season.

Swimming

Registration: The District 211 Swim Team Feeder Program is accepting registrations for the season beginning Sept. 10. Anyone entering or currently in fifth- through eighth-grade and living within the District 211 High School boundaries is eligible. No tryouts are required and everyone is welcome. Alligator registration: The Arlington Alligators Swim Team registration will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 11 in the front main entrance hallway of St. Viator High School 1213 East Oakton St., Arlington Heights. Mail-in registration is currently being taken. The Alligators is a member of USA Swimming with athletes from all over the Northwest suburbs. The team is open to swimmers ages 5 and older who can swim 25 yards of both freestyle and backstroke efficiently.

Through the use of a progressive program, all swimmers whether novice or advanced receive coaching and training. Coaches are USA Swimming and ASCA certified with years of swimming experience. The team is under the direction of Head Coach Mary Ruffin. Last season more than one-third of the swimmers qualified for local, state and national championship meets.

Volleyball

Coaches wanted: Sky High Volleyball, a not-for-profit corporation, seeks coaches with experience to train boys and/or girls teams.

The boys teams are located in Libertyville, and the girls teams are located in three locations, including Crystal Lake, Libertyville and Hoffman Estates. Convenient schedules and some benefits are offered. Ongoing training is provided to the coaching staff.
