Itasca garage, two vehicles damaged by late-night fire

A two-car garage in Itasca and two vehicles inside were heavily damaged by fire Friday night.

Itasca firefighters were called to 520 E. Washington Ave. at 10:47 p.m. The blaze was contained to the 24-foot-by-24-foot detached garage and under control in about 25 minutes, Lt. Robert Hianik said.

"It didn't go any further than the garage, so everything went well," he said.

Hianik said he didn't know if the residents were home when the fire started.

No damage estimate was available Saturday. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Itasca was assisted by firefighters from Roselle, Wood Dale and Bloomingdale.
