Best & Brightest
•Kristin Wilson of Lake Zurich was named a Heminway Scholar for academic excellence at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, the nation's top-ranked college for undergraduate engineering education. The awards were presented at Rose-Hulman's Honors & Awards Banquet.
Wilson, who recently completed her sophomore year as a biomedical engineering major, was recognized for having the highest grade point average after completing the freshman year in 2005-06.
Wilson is the daughter of Christopher and Pamela Wilson of Lake Zurich. She was valedictorian of Lake Zurich Senior High School's 2005 graduating class.
Located in Terre Haute, Rose-Hulman has been ranked No. 1 for the past eight years among undergraduate engineering colleges in U.S. News & World Report's College Guide.
•Kevin Lastres of Lake Zurich was named to the dean's list at Loyola University in Chicago for the spring semester. Kevin is the son of Rick and Kathy Lastres of Lake Zurich.
•Katelin Foster of Vernon Hills was named to the dean's list for the spring 2007 semester at the University of North Carolina Wilmington in Wilmington, N.C.
•Kristin Irene Hagen of Grayslake was named to Northern Illinois University's Department of Communication Spring 2007 Outstanding Student Honor Roll for achieving a 3.5 grade point average or higher for the semester. She is majoring in communications, culture/advocacy.
•Ronny Bowman of Fox Lake earned academic honors during the spring 2007 semester at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside in Kenosha. Bowman received Dean's List honors for maintaining a grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
•Christie Hacket has been named to the dean's list at Texas A & M University, Corpus Christi, Texas for the spring semester, obtaining a 4.0 GPA. She has received an Academic Achievement Scholarship, a University Honors Scholarship and a scholarship from the Southwestern Fastener's Association for the fall of 2008. She is a member of the honors program and the Gamma Phi Beta Sorority. She is a 2006 Magna Cum Laude graduate of Mundelein High School and the daughter of Jill and Frederic Hacket of Wauconda.
•Melanie L. Hacket has been named to the Dean's list of Northern Illinois University for the spring semester. Melanie is a Junior majoring in Accountancy. She is a 2002 Magna Cum Laude graduate of Mundelein High School and the daughter of Jill and Frederic Hacket of Wauconda.
•Jennifer Gleason, Kayla Ming and Bradford Chapin, all of Grayslake, earned academic honors during the spring 2007 semester at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside in Kenosha.
Gleason and Ming received Provost's List honors for earning a grade point average of 3.8 or higher on a 4.0 scale. Chapin earned Dean's List honors for maintaining a GPA of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
