Cherry contest winners

Tin Fish chef/owner Colin Turner and I whittled down the pack to four finalists, picking recipes based on their originality and potential for being re-created on the menu at Tin Fish's Oakbrook Terrace restaurant. Turner prepared the recipes and he, Baking Secrets columnist Annie Overboe and I tasted the submissions and selected the winners.

First place: Chocolate Cherry Creams, Diane Matecki, Wheaton.

Second place: Gloria's Cherry Dessert, Gloria Heliman, Palatine

Third place: Cherry Chiffon Cake, Barbara R. Racana, Schaumburg

Honorable mention: Cherries on a Cloud, Cindy Fisher, Batavia
