Kids can learn what lifeguards do

Lunch with the Lifeguards, a chance for kids ages 6 to 12 to learn about the responsibilities of a lifeguard, will be from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. today at The Oasis, 172 S. Circle Ave., Bloomingdale.

Children will be in the water to practice mini-rescue drills and games, followed by lunch at Coconut Café.

The cost is $3 for pool pass holders, $5 for non-pass holders. Registration is required. To register, call (630) 529-3650.

Wheelchair team to hold fundraiser

The Windy City Warriors of the Western DuPage Special Recreation Association is holding a fundraiser softball game from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Miracle Field, 304 E. Pine St., Roselle.

The Warriors are raising funds to pay for a trip to the Junior National Wheelchair Softball Tournament. The team is made up of wheelchair athletes ages 11 to 17. The Warriors will be playing able-bodied 11- and 12-year-olds who will play in wheelchairs for the game.

Admission is free and open to the public, but there will be a 50/50 raffle at the game. For details, call Sherry Manschot at (630) 681-0962, ext. 123.

Roselle seniors invited to picnic

The annual Senior Citizens Picnic will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at American Legion Hall, 344 E. Maple Ave., Roselle. All seniors are invited to enjoy free music, bingo and a barbecue lunch. The Reveliers will play music, and there will be both indoor and outdoor areas. For details, call George Danner at (630) 542-2876.

Golf benefit to aid homeless veterans

The Golf and Grill Fundraiser for the nonprofit Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans in Wheaton will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Maple Meadows Golf Course, 272 Addison Road, Wood Dale.

The cost is $100 per golfer and includes 18 holes of golf with cart and a barbecue dinner. There will be player awards and prizes at the dinner, as well as raffle prizes.

Bucket Boys to play in a free concert

The Bucket Boys will perform a free concert at 2 p.m. Monday at Bensenville Public Library, 200 S. Church Road, Bensenville. The hip-hop percussive duo uses junk collected from wrecking yards, trash bins, basements and attics to create music. For details, call (630) 766-4642.
