Mixed Grain Oatmeal with Fruit and Nuts
1 tablespoon water4 cups 2 percent or low-fat milk1 cup rolled oats2 teaspoons brown rice2 teaspoons flaxseed meal2 teaspoons raw sunflower seeds2 teaspoons cracked wheat2 teaspoons 10-grain natural cereal4 dates, pitted and chopped4 raw almonds, soaked in water overnight, sliced with skin on2 teaspoons honey or brown sugar, if sweetness desired1 tablespoon methi, mung, moth, masoor or chick pea sprouts.1 piece fresh fruit such as banana, apple, mango or 6 fresh strawberries, cut in piecesIn a stainless steel pot or stoneware casserole pour water to coat bottom of pan. Pour milk on top. Place over medium heat and add oats, brown rice, flaxseed, sunflower seeds, cracked wheat, 10-grain cereal, dates, almonds, honey and sprouts. Cover with lid and cook 30 minutes. Stir well, cover pot and bring to soft boil, checking frequently until it comes to a boil. Remove from heat right away. Add fresh fruit.
