Rock, Jazz, Blues, Mambo, Big Bands, Boy Bands & More Coming to Schaumburg Town Square

Music, laughter and plenty of applause will fill the air this summer as the Schaumburg Township Library presents concerts and other free performances in Schaumburg Town Square, corner of Schaumburg and Roselle roads. No fee or registration is required for any of the following events, and audience members are welcome to bring blankets, chairs, snacks and beverages. No pets allowed. In case of inclement weather, call (847) 985-4000 to see if the performance is still taking place or has been moved indoors.

Outdoor performances begin with Sweet Sheiks from 4:30-5:30 p.m., Saturday, June 2, as part of the library's 2018 Summer Challenge kick-off event. This toe-tapping fivesome brings a modern flair to early jazz, blues and Americana classics. In case of rain, the performance will be held inside the library.

Next up is Bourbon Aristocracy from 6:45-8:15 p.m., Monday, June 4. Audience members will be treated to traditional bluegrass classics from artists such as Bill Monroe, Lester Flatt, Earl Scruggs and many more, alongside recent favorites and classic country songs from Hank Williams, Johnny Cash and others.

All ages will enjoy the songs and storytelling of Kevin Farris from 7-7:45 p.m., Thursday, June 7. Kevin inspires kids to live within their creativity and evolve into a more self-aware generation. In case of rain, this program will be held inside the library.

Those who love the music of the Beatles won't want to miss Kaleidoscope Eyes from 6:45-8:15 p.m., Monday, June 11. This acoustic Beatles tribute band captures the magic of the songwriting and harmonies of the Fab Four.

All ages are welcome to relax with Sunset Yoga from 6:30-7:30 p.m., Thursdays, June 14 & July 12. This outdoor yoga session is suitable for the whole family. Participants should bring a yoga mat or towel. In case of rain, Sunset Yoga will be held inside the library.

Classic big band jazz from the 1930s and '40s will fill Town Square as Shout Section Big Band performs from 6:45-8:15 p.m., Monday, June 18. Beloved by jazz fans and swing dancers, Shout Section adapts modern hits to the big band style.

A string trio and storyteller will explore traditional stories about respecting the earth as Follow the Butterfly hits the stage from 7-7:45 p.m., Thursday, June 21. In case of rain, this interactive performance will be held inside the library.

Current, upbeat country, with a few pop/rock songs thrown in, will be played by Wild Daisy from 6:45-8:15 p.m., Monday, June 25. All ages will enjoy this energetic, enthusiastic country band.

Istvan and his Imaginary Band will delight children from 7-7:45 p.m., Thursday, June 28 as Istvan plays his acoustic guitar with an endless series of effects. In case of rain, this performance will take place inside the library.

From NSYNC and Backstreet Boys to Boyz II Men and One Direction, Boy Band Night pays tribute to everything boy band. Enjoy hits and more from 6:45-8:15 p.m., Monday, July 2.

Foot tapping music from the 1950s and early 1960s will be performed by Rosie & the Rivets from 6:45-8:15 p.m., Monday, July 9. Audience members will also hear some current hits with a retro twist.

Big Band Boom! will perform classics from the '20s, '30s, '40s and '50s from 6:45-8:15 p.m., Monday, July 16. Modern big band jazz will come alive as Big Band Boom! authentically recreates music from a bygone era.

Melding classical music into classic rock hits, Classical Blast will entertain from 6:45-8:15 p.m., Monday, July 23. Audience members will rock out to new adaptations of music by Beethoven, Bach and more.

Experience side-splitting fun for all ages during the Improv Performance from Laugh Out Loud theater from 7-8 p.m., Wednesday, July 25. Attendees will be treated to comedic scenes, games and songs. In case of rain, this performance will take place inside the library.

Children and adults alike will enjoy the high energy and enthusiasm of Super Stolie from 7-7:45 p.m., Thursday, July 26. This entertaining musician and artist loves to use creativity to inspire the uniqueness in all of us. In case of rain, this performance will take place inside the library.

From today's modern tropical sounds to traditional 1950s Mambo, the 911 Mambo Orchestra will fill the summer air with music from 6:45-8:15 p.m., Monday, July 30.

Join the library's celebration of Harry Potter's birthday with Tonks & the Aurors, a wizard rock band that will perform from 7-7:45 p.m., Tuesday, July 31. This unique band will play Harry Potter-themed music. In case of rain, this performance will take place inside the library.

Relive the classic sounds of the '70s with 1976 from 6:45-8:15 p.m., Monday, Aug. 6.

Selections will include favorites from Fleetwood Mac, Peter Frampton, Heart, Boston and many more.
