Schaumburg Library Offers Variety of Technology Classes

Computer and other technology classes are available for a small fee at the Schaumburg Township District Library. A wide variety, ranging from basics to advanced, are scheduled for October in the Adult Computer Lab of the central library, 130 S. Roselle Rd., Schaumburg. Classes require registration and cost $12 for Schaumburg Library cardholders, $17 for non-cardholders, and $9 for seniors ages 50 years and up. Classes take place at a variety of times, including weeknights, weekday afternoons and weekend afternoons, and last approximately two hours.

The library's core computer classes include Excel 1, Windows 1 and Word 1. Once a person has completed those classes or is proficient in those skills, he or she may take the next level classes. These include Creating Websites 1 and 2, Photoshop Elements 1 and 2, HTML, PowerPoint 1 and 2 and Access 1 and 2. Excel classes include Charts, Data Analysis, Dates and Logic, Spreadsheets, and Formulas and Functions. The library also offers instruction on how to use a point and shoot or digital SLR camera.

Classes for seniors include computer instruction as well as phone and tablet instruction. Senior computer classes cover Windows, Excel and email. Senior phone and tablet classes provide instruction for using iPhones and iPads, Google photos for Android, using Gmail for phones and tablets, and much more.
