Hilltop Community Supper June 13 to feature a cookout

First Congregational Church of Dundee is hosting Hilltop Community Suppers, an outreach effort that offers a free monthly meal served restaurant-style on the second Tuesday of each month.

The suppers are open to community members in need of a warm, home-cooked meal and a social experience - veterans, active duty military families, food pantry patrons, homeless individuals, seniors and single parents.

The next free supper will offered from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 13, in the church narthex, 900 S. Eighth St., West Dundee. The June menu will feature a cookout with a strawberry and blueberry salad; a hamburger with lettuce, pickles, cheese and condiments; baked beans; potato chips; an ice cream sundae; and assorted drinks.

The suppers will be run entirely by volunteers; more than 70 members of the church have signed up to cook, clean and serve. Students in the church's youth groups have volunteered to wait tables.
