Feb. 19: UPC Concert Series presents singer/songwriter Dan Holmes

Dan Holmes, a Christian singer/songwriter/guitarist from the Rockford area, will give a concert in Grayslake at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 19 as part of the United Protestant Church of Grayslake Concert Series. He is an old school singer/songwriter creating music about the importance of our devotion to God and being the light of the world.

Holmes first picked up a guitar at age 10. His musical influences include Paul Simon, Dan Fogelberg, James Taylor and others. He has performed at more than 150 churches in Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Iowa, Ohio and California. Holmes has also performed at the Illinois State Fair and the Susan G. Komen 3-Day Walk for Breast Cancer Cure. He has written music for the Appalachia Service Project and has toured England in 2014 and 2016. A freewill offering will be taken, and refreshments will be served after the concert. In addition to the concert, Holmes will share his music at the 8:15 and 10:30 a.m. services at the church.

The United Protestant Church is affiliated with the United Church of Christ Fox Valley Association and the United Methodist Church Northern Illinois Conference. Worship services are held at 8:15 and 10:30 a.m. on Sundays, with Christian education for all ages at 9:15 a.m. on Sundays during the school year. The senior pastor is Rev. Gary Waters.
