Sen. Nybo discusses healthcare with nurses, other professionals at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital

LOMBARD - State Sen. Chris Nybo (R-Elmhurst) met with doctors, nurses and hospital administrators from Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove Oct. 18 to talk about issues affecting the healthcare industry.

"Talking with these hard-working healthcare professionals, and hearing their concerns, was quite enlightening. I have an even greater appreciation for what they do each and every day," Nybo said. "I would like to thank them for taking the time to give us their insights and perspectives, which will be invaluable as we all work together to once again make Illinois a place where people want to live, work and raise their families."

Among the topics discussed at the meeting was the need for a full-year, balanced state budget; Medicaid, and current legislative proposals for a nurse licensure compact. Joining Sen. Nybo at the meeting were Senate Leader Christine Radogno, House Deputy Leader Patti Bellock and Rep. David Olsen.

"Like so many other professions, nursing is affected by the laws and policies we debate in Springfield," Nybo said. "I was thrilled to have so many nurses on hand to hear about the work they do on frontlines of healthcare, which helped me gain a better understanding of what is needed to ensure they have the tools and resources necessary to help those in need of medical care."
