Illinois Jaycees honors Fox River Grove resident

The Illinois Jaycees selected Joanna Colletti as an honoree of its Outstanding Young Persons of Illinois awards program. The Outstanding Young Persons program annually recognizes young people throughout Illinois who excel in their chosen fields, endeavors and show a great commitment to their respective communities.

Colletti, 39, is being recognized in the category of "Personal accomplishment."

Colletti is the water resources manager and chief stormwater engineer for the McHenry County Department of Planning & Development in Woodstock. As water resources manager, she oversees the county's groundwater program and planning for long-term sustainability of the water supply. She is a professional engineer (Illinois), a certified floodplain manager (Illinois), and a Lake County, Illinois Enforcement Officer. She serves on the sustainability committee of the Illinois Section of the American Society of Engineers and is also a member of the Illinois Association for Floodplain and Stormwater Management. She is a technical advisory committee member of the Northwest Water Planning Alliance.

Colletti has served the community in many capacities including as a village official and community volunteer. She previously served as a Fox River Grove Village Board Trustee and on the Fox River Grove parks commission. She also volunteers with both the Junior Chamber (Jaycees) and Fox River Grove Lioness Club. Colletti earned her bachelor of science in civil engineering from Bradley University.

"I am honored to be recognized by the Illinois Jaycees for my civic service, volunteering and professional accomplishments," Colletti said. "It is truly humbling to be named a TOYP recipient alongside so many other well-deserving young people. I love what I do and am thrilled that I can give back to my community in so many ways."

The Illinois Jaycees will honor Colletti at an awards banquet on May 14 at the Wyndham Springfield-City Centre. The event is supported by friends and employers of the honorees, local Jaycee organizations, Illinois businesses such as Coyote Logistics and the Illinois Jaycees Charitable Foundation. Leadership development through community involvement has been the basis of the Jaycees since its inception in 1920. The goal of the not-for-profit organization is to provide members a means to reach their full potential through networking and personal growth opportunities and is ideal for proactive young people, ages 18 to 40. Members enhance a variety of skills as they work together to plan and run civic and individual development activities in their home communities and chapters.
