Community Needs grants are primarily awarded based on earnings from our unrestricted and field-of-interest funds. Additionally, during the selection process, the Foundation offers representatives of its donor-advised funds the opportunity to review the grant applications that it receives through its Community Needs Grant Program. It does this to inform local donors about the needs in the community, introduce them to the many organizations that apply to the Foundation, and to engage them in helping the Foundation increase the level of grant support that it provides through the grant process. In response to this year's Community Needs grant applications, donor-advisors have recommended grants as indicated above, totaling $108,107.

The Foundation also makes grants to DuPage County not-for-profits working in the areas of Arts and Culture, Education and the Environment during its annual Fall Community Needs Grant Cycle. That most recent Cycle awarded more than $207,000 to 29 agencies this past December. In addition, the Foundation makes grants throughout the year to a range of not-for-profits throughout DuPage County and beyond from its various donor-advised and other restricted funds.

"We are thrilled to have reached a major milestone this grant cycle by awarding more than $400,000

to support DuPage health and human services programs," said Barb Szczepaniak, Foundation director of programs. "Local not-for-profit organizations work extremely hard to serve those in need in our community and we are pleased that our financial support can help them expand their efforts."
