Bethany Lutheran hosts Julotta service

On Christmas morning, join Bethany Lutheran Church, 8 S. Lincoln in Batavia, for an authentic Swedish worship at 9 a.m. Dec. 25.

Julotta is not only a wonderful way to celebrate Christmas morning, but it carries on a recognition of Swedish ancestry and offers those who are not Swedish the opportunity to experience this very special event. We hope everyone, whether Swedish or not, feels welcome to come and share this with us.

Visiting pastor Magnus Hillbo, a native Swede and trained opera singer, will deliver the sermon in English. The readings and hymns will be in Swedish. A Swedish breakfast will be served at 8 a.m.

Bethany has held this wonderful worship service for decades and is currently the only church within the Metropolitan Chicago Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in American to offer it. The synod covers four counties; Cook, DuPage, Kane and Lake in the Chicago area with over 200 worshipping communities.
