Dundee Lions will be out for Candy Day to help the blind this weekend

Thousands of Americans go blind every year. Even more develop serious, uncorrectable vision loss. The Lions of Illinois would like to stop preventable blindness with your help.

Lions of Illinois Candy Day will be on Friday, Oct. 10, and Saturday, Oct. 11.

Members of the Dundee Township Lions Club will be out in the community in front of stores to raise donations to fund programs to fight preventable blindness and provide vision and hearing services to men, women and children in Illinois.

You can show your support of the Lions by accepting a famous candy roll from one of the members dressed in the Lions bright yellow apron and dropping your donation in a Candy Day canister.

Giving a donation will help to continue the services that have made a world of difference in the lives of people with vision and hearing loss since 1952. In the Dundee area, Lions help many children in Community Unit District 300 receive free eye evaluations and glasses when the family does not have financial resources to pay for them.

All funds raised are used for local Lions Club and the Lions of Illinois Foundation programs and services to the vision and hearing-impaired. The Lions are a charitable nonprofit service organization. Anyone interested in learning more about the Lions should contact Jim McClung, Dundee Township Lions president, at (847) 567-7127.
