Boys High School Camps

Location: South Elgin H.S. Gymnasiums All incoming 9th - 12th graders

#1 - Basketball Camp

Dates: June 3-26 1st week Tuesday - Friday 2nd, 3rd, and 4th weeks Monday-Thursday Time: 12:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.

The High School Basketball Camp is offered to current and incoming Storm players. It offers each player the opportunity learn our system for the upcoming year which is vital to their performance in November - March. Each session will consist of a short fundamental review session followed by implementation of our up-tempo offensive system, pressing schemes, and pressure half court defensive packages.

#2 - High School Shooting/Finishing Camp

Dates: June 3-6 Time: 2:30 p.m. - 4 p.m. with coach's approval

This camp will provide instruction on proper shooting technique from 3 different positions (set shots, shooting off the move from the catch, shooting off the move from the dribble). Extensive demonstration and instruction will take place on how to get shots off down screens, back screens, flare screens as well as covering five different cuts which allow a player to learn how to read his defender while using a screen. Also covered will be proper technique for using ball screens to allow a player to create a shot or layup. The finishing portion of camp will teach players to make "Stick-its" or Short shots, shots at the rim. We will provide instruction, demonstration, and repetition on the three types of finishes needed at the rim, and how and when to use each one.

#3 - High School Ball Handling/Driving Camp

Dates: June 9-12 Time: 2:30 p.m. - 4 p.m. with coach's approval

This camp will provide the necessary tools for a player to be a threat penetrating the defense. We will provide extensive instruction on the four phases of proper drive technique. A crucial part of attacking a defense is solid handles. We will provide constant repetition to be skilled with the ball. Drills will include stationary 1 and 2 ball drills, dribbling on the move 1 and 2 ball, and explosion drills with the ball to learn how separate from your defender.

#4 - High School Transition Camp

Dates: June 16-19 Time: 2:30 p.m. - 4 p.m. with coach's approval

Our High School team led the area this season averaging 70.4 points per game. Part of our ability to score is that we focus on "Fastbreak" basketball. This camp will cover many advantaged break situation (2 on 1, 3 on 1, 3 on 2, 4 on 3, and so on), how to create an advantage break, and, most importantly, how to play at "speed." The toughest aspect for players is to learn how to perform their skills at their highest rate of speed. This camp will provide extensive repetitions in order to perform at full speed.

Boys 4th - 8th Grade Camps

Location: South Elgin H.S. Gymnasiums All times are 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.

#1 - Basketball Fundamental Camp

Dates: June 3-6 Includes T-shirt/basketball

This camp is designed to increase each camper's knowledge of the game, develop personal skill levels and teach techniques for improvement of each camper's game. Each day revolves around five areas of concentration:

1- Individual Skills: shooting, dribbling, passing, ballhandling, rebounding, defense and individual offensive moves

2- Offensive/defensive demonstration and technique

3- Offensive Moves: in triple threat, on the dribble, without the ball, and in the post

4- Team Skills: team offense/defense, rebounding/blocking out, and movement without the ball

5- Game Competition: three-on-three

#2 - Shooting/Finishing Camp

Dates: June 9-12 includes T-shirt/basketball

This camp is open to all athletes, regardless of ability level. To maximize learning, all campers are evaluated and placed within groups of similar ability, regardless of age. This is a great supplement to our Fundamental Teaching Camp, numerous campers will choose to register for both sessions (Fundamental and Shooting).

Featuring demonstrations, hours of individual instruction, drills, and competitions, the following will be taught:

• Jump Shot (fundamentals and techniques), on move off pass, on move off dribble

• Free Throws

• Stick its; Lay ups (right and left), Power Lay ups (right and left), Baby Hook shot (right and left), and when and how to use each

#3 - 4th - 8th Grade Boys Basketball Advanced Camp

Dates: June 16-19 Includes T-shirt/booklet

If you are a dedicated player who spends time practicing and thinking about how to improve your game, chances are you'll love this camp. If you aren't truly committed to getting better, this camp is probably not for you. We will cover many aspects of the game that separate good players from mediocre ones. Areas to be covered are: Being tough with the ball and owning your space, Passing out of pressure and traps, Developing better body control, footwork, and balance, Beating full-court pressure and double-teams, Developing hand-eye coordination and quickness, Learning to be a playmaker without the ball, Understanding timing and spacing on the court, Minimizing unnecessary turnovers, Responding to mistakes with composure, Speaking to your team with confidence and poise, Attacking space in the open court, Using fakes to create advantages, How to show coachability through eye contact and posture, How to maximize your basketball training, How to celebrate the success of your teammates, And much more …

GIRLS' HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL CAMP

All incoming 9th - 12th graders

Dates: June 3-19 - 1st week Tuesday through Friday; 2nd and 3rd weeks Monday through Thursday Time: 8 to 10 a.m. South Elgin High School Main Gym

The purpose of the SEHS girls' basketball summer camp is to prepare our athletes for next season. Individuals will improve in the areas of conditioning, agility, strength, shooting, dribbling, passing, rebounding, and defense. Team concepts such as man-to-man defense, motion offense, zone offense, and press offense will be emphasized. Camp times will also include core training and conditioning.

5th - 8th GRADE GIRLS' FUNDAMENTAL BASKETBALL CAMP

All incoming 5th - 8th graders

Dates: June 3-12 - 1st week Tuesday - Friday; 2nd week Monday - Thursday Time: 8 to 10 a.m.

This camp is designed to increase each player's knowledge of the game, develop personal skill levels and teach techniques for improvement of each player's game. Daily emphasis will include individual skills: shooting, dribbling, passing, ball-handling, rebounding, defensive and individual offensive moves. There will be game competition: 3 on 3 and regulation full court. We will also have contests throughout the camp.

BOYS' & GIRLS' CROSS COUNTRY RUNNING CAMP

All incoming 7th - 12th graders Dates: June 9 to July 21 Monday - Thursday Time: 6:30 - 8:30 a.m.

Get in shape in a fun, relaxed atmosphere with others who enjoy the great outdoors. This camp is perfect for anyone interested in joining cross country in the fall or for anyone looking for general cardiovascular conditioning for other sports or your own overall good health.

HIGH SCHOOL Football Summer Camp

Camp Dates: Tuesday June 3 to Thursday July 31 Camp Times: freshmen 8 to 10 a.m. sophomores, juniors, and seniors 10 a.m. to noon

South Elgin Storm Football camps are designed to give each individual athlete a solid foundation in the basic football fundamentals needed to excel at their specific position. We expect all students interested in playing for the Storm in the fall to attend this camp. The Storm coaching staff will provide players an opportunity to gain a better understanding for our scheme, and program expectations for the upcoming season. The month of June will be an open gym opportunity for all SEHS students that is devoted to speed, agility, and strength training. The month of July will focus on football specific training and preparation. This summer camp is vital to ensuring that our players will be prepared mentally and physically for the upcoming season.

Youth Football camp

Location: South Elgin High School Football Practice Fields June 11-12 Time: 8 a.m. - 3 p.m.

This is a noncontact camp for ages 6-14. No helmets or pads are needed- just a shirt, shorts, and a pair of gym shoes and cleats. Campers will need to bring their own lunch.

Activities Include: Player Combine, Punt Pass & Kick, 7 on 7 Games, Position Specific Skill Stations, and Speed/Agility Training.

All Campers will receive a Storm Shirt, Certificate, and a Player Assessment. Two Leadership Award Winners will be selected to earn a Storm Mini Helmet, in addition to leading the Varsity team on the field for their 2014 Homecoming Game

Designed to give each individual athlete a solid foundation in the basic football fundamentals needed to excel at his specific position. SEHS Head Coach Pat Pistorio directs this camp with assistance from his coaching staff and current varsity captains. Coach Pistorio has directed youth camps for the Chicago Bears for the past five seasons, in addition to coaching at the High School, Collegiate, and Professional level for the past nine seasons.

Boys' High School Soccer Camp

For any athletes entering 9th - 12th grades

Dates: July 7-17 Monday - Thursday Time: 8 to 10 a.m. South Elgin High School Soccer Fields

The South Elgin High School boys' soccer camp is available to students entering 9th-12th grade. Focusing on individual technique in 1v1, 2v2, 4v4, and full field situations, campers will gain confidence in ball control, feints, and working in limited space. Camp will also break down shooting technique (which applies to passing as well) and progress to fast action games. We will also work on fitness training/conditioning. Bring Water bottles and all soccer gear. South Elgin soccer looks forward to seeing you this summer!

GIRLS' SOFTBALL SUMMER CAMP

Head Coach: Stephanie Katzenberger

Incoming 4th through 10th graders Dates: June 9-19, Monday - Thursday, 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Where: South Elgin High School Varsity Softball Field Minimum: 25 required to run camp

The Storm Softball camp is designed to teach the basic fundamentals of the game of softball to the younger campers (4-6) - throwing/catching/fielding/bunting/hitting/base running - and to instill in them a general enjoyment for the game of softball. The older campers (7-10) will also focus on strong fundamentals, but also higher level techniques, strategies, competitive drills, and position instruction to prepare them for being successful at the high school level. The 2014 Storm softball coaching staff consists of 6 former college players, and members of the 2014 varsity team will be assisting in camper instruction.

High School TENNIS CAMP

South Elgin High School Tennis Courts All incoming 9th - 12th Dates: June 3-12 (The first week will be Tuesday - Friday, the second week will be Monday - Thursday) Time: 8 to 10 a.m.

Athletes will learn the basic fundamentals of the forehand, backhand, overhead and volleys. This also includes grip footwork and body position. The second week will be devoted to rules, court boundaries, strategy in singles and doubles culminating with a singles and doubles tournament.

BOYS' & GIRLS' TRACK & FIELD SUMMER CAMP

Coaches: Anthony Meier and Anthony LaRue

South Elgin High School Track

All incoming 7th - 12th graders Dates: June 11 to July 18 Wednesday & Thursday the first week then Monday - Thursday with a Saturday, June 29 Meet, Time: 3:30 to 5 p.m.

This camp will be an opportunity for athletes in the track and field events of sprints, pole vault, high jump, and long/triple jump to extend their skills. Instruction and practice opportunities will be provided in these events as well as an opportunity to compete at the end. All participants receive a performance T-shirt and shorts and meet entry to the DuPage Track Club Invitational in June at Lake Park High School and meets at nearby high schools for all ages! These are USATF certified meets of the area's top track athletes. Must have minimum of 16 campers.

This camp will focus on all skills, strategies, competitive drills and competition.

Girls' High School Volleyball Camp

For any girl, entering 9th - 12th grades

Dates: July 7-17 Monday - Thursday Time: 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. South Elgin High School Main Gym

This camp will work on individual skills, strategies, competitive drills and competition.

5th through 8th Grade Coed Volleyball Camp

Dates: July 7-17 Monday - Thursday Time: 8 to 10 a.m. South Elgin High School Main Gym

This coed camp is designed for grades 5-8, with the skill levels ranging from beginners who are just being introduced to the game, to players with Elementary/Middle school experience. The focus will be on the fundamental skills needed to play the game, including circuit training in hitting, passing and setting. Each session will conclude with team play.
