Signup begins in February for 2014-2015 parks preschool

Registration packets for 2014-2015 Schaumburg Park District Preschool will be available Friday, Feb. 14, for residents at Meineke Recreation Center, Bock Neighborhood Center, the Community Recreation Center and Pat Shephard Center. The 2014-2015 school year will run from Sept. 2, 2014 to May 20, 2015.

Schaumburg Park District Preschool is accredited by the National Academy for the Education of Young Children. A variety of classes are offered and each age-appropriate class builds on the next to provide children with a strong foundation to become successful lifelong learners.

Children who will enter kindergarten in 2015 and 4 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2014, are eligible for the 4-year-old program. Children who will enter kindergarten in 2016 and 3 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2014, are eligible for the 3-year-old program. Children who are 2.5 years old by Sept. 1, 2014, may register for mini-preschool classes.

To register, return the completed registration packet along with a birth certificate, proof of residency, $45 nonrefundable registration fee, $50 security deposit and a 9x12 envelope with $1.72 postage to any of the aforementioned locations by 5 p.m., Friday, Feb. 28. After March 7, registration will be taken only at the Pat Shephard Center. The lottery for residents will be March 3. Nonresident registration will begin March 11.

Schaumburg Park District preschool centers are located at Meineke Recreation Center, 220 E. Weathersfield Way; Pat Shephard Center, 421 N. Springinsguth Road; and Bock Neighborhood Center, 1223 W. Sharon Lane. The Community Recreation Center is located at 505 N. Springinsguth Road.
