Schaumburg Township honors veterans with dinner

The evening began with Clerk Timothy M. Heneghan welcoming 55 veteran honorees and their guests to the “Liberty We Defend” veterans dinner. Heneghan conducted the ceremony, followed by speeches given by Schaumburg Township Supervisor Mary Wroblewski, Col. Larry Kaifesh from the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, state Rep. Michelle Mussman, Cook County Commissioner Timothy O. Schneider and state Sen. Dan Kotowski.

After the speeches, guests enjoyed a catered dinner by Riccardo’s Ristorante in Schaumburg.

Clerk Timothy M. Heneghan closed the evening with the recognition of seven new inductees into the Schaumburg Township Veterans Honor Roll. All received applause and appreciation from their fellow service members. A standing ovation was given to the mother of one fallen veteran, Senior Airman Sumner Lloyd Cowan, who bravely served his country in the Iraq War.

Several local and state officials sponsored the event including, Kotowski, Mussman, state Rep. Fred Crespo, and Schneider.
