Addison Trail grad dies of injuries from June accident

Dylan Domek, the Addison Trail High School graduate hit by a car on his graduation day in June, died of his injuries Friday, according to the school's principal.

“The Domek family is in our hearts and thoughts,” Adam Cibulka said in a prepared statement released Saturday afternoon.

The school's football team will wear a No. 44 sticker on their helmets to honor Domek, who played linebacker for the Blazers.

Domek, 19, was hit by a car around 12:05 a.m. June 9 while he was with a group crossing Lake Shore Drive near Division Street in Chicago. He sustained head and leg injuries.

A wake for Domek will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, at Salerno's Rosedale Chapel, 450 W. Lake St., Roselle. The funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, at St. Philip the Apostle Parish, 1233 W. Holtz Ave., Addison.

The district said it has support services available for students, workers and others. To access them, call (630) 628-3300.
