Waste management agency seeks public input

Concerned about garbage, recycling and other solid waste issues? The Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County will conduct a series of informational meetings in September. SWANCC is a nonprofit intergovernmental agency comprised of 23 member communities that provides residents with programs to recycle special materials; conducts waste and recycling education and outreach; and owns the Glenview Transfer Station, where waste is delivered before going to a landfill. The agency is updating its Solid Waste Management Plan to guide it and its member towns in future waste management practices. As part of this process, the agency is seeking input from elected officials, municipal staff and the public. The meetings are as scheduled: 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10 at Oakton Community College’s Skokie campus, Room P104, 7701 N. Lincoln Ave.; 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11 at the college’s Des Plaines campus, Room 1606, 1600 E. Golf Road; and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12 at Arlington Heights Village Hall Board Room, 33 S. Arlington Heights Road. For more information, call (847) 724-9205 or visit swancc.org.
