Celebrate National Night Out at Meineke Recreation Center Aug. 6

Join the Schaumburg Park District in celebrating National Night Out from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, at Meineke Recreation Center, 220 E. Weathersfield Way.

This free end-of-summer event is jam-packed with fun for the whole family. Designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, strengthen neighborhood spirit and generate support for local anti-crime programs, National Night Out is as informational as it is entertaining.

“National Night Out is a wonderful opportunity for the community to come together and meet those who serve and protect us,” said Doug Sieder, manager of Meineke Recreation Center. “It’s going to be a special night with amusing activities, games and music.”

Games for children, contests, live music from a D.J. and sidewalk chalk play will be available from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Schaumburg police officers, state representatives, bike and motor patrolmen and firefighters will also join the fun throughout the night. Open swim in Meineke Pool will be available from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Barbecued concessions and drinks will be sold for a minimal cost.
