Zengeler Cleaners hosts international business delegation

Northbrook, IL, July 16, 2013: Zengeler Cleaners, the Midwest's oldest and largest dry cleaner, recently hosted a delegation of 30 entrepreneurs from Japan. The international business delegation, representing the largest and most successful dry cleaning operators in Japan, gathered at the company's headquarters store in Northbrook, IL, to identify best practices in the cleaning industry, many of which the group hopes to implement upon their return to Japan.

“Zengeler Cleaners is very excited to share the processes used in our operations,” according to Tom Zengeler, President of the family-owned cleaner. “We had the opportunity to show our guests many of the recent innovations in equipment, technology and operating philosophy. In turn, our team was also able to gather ideas, suggestions and recommendations from a distinguished group of successful operators committed to improvements in our industry.”

The Japanese business delegation had three primary goals in visiting Zengeler Cleaners. First, they were interested in observing the company's state-of-the-art business processes at the company's Long Grove store, including a system that allows customers to self-serve 24-hours a day, 365 days a year. Second, they wanted to see the Zengeler Cleaners' environmentally-friendly cleaning processes. Finally, they wanted to experience first-hand how the 156-year old company provides quality and service to its customers.

Zengeler Cleaners is a cleaning industry leader when it comes to “green” technology. The company was one of the first in the country to exclusively use natural solvents in its cleaning process. Zengeler Cleaners is also committed to recycling – recapturing 100% of solvents, using one of the tightest, most carefully controlled systems in the industry. The company even recycles consumable materials, providing customers with free “hanger bins” to recycle hangers and free garment bags to reduce the use of plastic.
