Sew Generously in St. Charles to Sponsor 24-Hour SEW-A-THON to Support Local Women's Shelter

The Sew Generously SEW-A-THON begins 5 pm. Friday, August 9 and continues until 5 pm. Saturday August 10.

Attendees are asked to assemble quilts for Mutual Ground, and are invited to stay for any length of time. Customers who sew from 1:00 am through 5:00 am Saturday morning will be eligible to win a grand prize of a new BERNINA 215 sewing machine. Customers who sew from 6:00 am - 10:00 am Saturday will be eligible to win an Illinois/Wisconsin quilt shop bus trip for two people. For the machine and the bus trip, the winner must be present and still sewing during their whole time slot.

"Customers can choose when and how to attend," says owner Karin Furio, "but door prizes and grand prizes are at their best during the wicked hours."

Other ongoing festivities during the Sew Generously SEW-A-THON include:

--Door prizes every two hours

--6 pm Friday- 12 am. Saturday - Charlie Fox Pizza

--Snacks and caffeine all night

--6 am Saturday - 10 am. Saturday - Breakfast from Panera

--11 am Saturday - 3 pm. Saturday - Grilling for lunch

--3 pm. Saturday - 5 pm. Saturday - Dessert buffet

"We depend on the local community to survive," says Furio, "and this is one way we can give back--using our machines, fabric, talent and skills."
