Lombard summer Blood Drive scheduled for July 10 and July 11, second day and new location added

The Village of Lombard summer community blood drive is set for July 10 – and for the first time will take place at three locations around the Village and span two days.

The Village of Lombard has been hosting blood drives since January 1988 – making this year the 25th year of the seasonal drive. Carol Bauer, the Village's Blood Drive Coordinator, said the Village is excited to have the Westin Lombard Yorktown partner with the Village for the July blood drive providing an additional day for donors who cannot make the July 10th date.

“The goal for the annual drive is 213 pints, but we are hoping to surpass that goal with this year's two-day drive,” Bauer said. “We are always looking for organizations and companies to partner with the Village and promote the blood drives.”

On July 10, donors can give blood for the first half of the day from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Yorktown Center in a Heartland Blood Center Mobile Coach, which will be located by mall entrance 5 near Egg Harbor Café. In the afternoon, donors can give blood from 1:30 to 7 p.m. at Village Hall, 255 E. Wilson Ave. The Westin Lombard Yorktown Center will serve as a third blood drive location from 1 to 5 p.m. on July 11.

Julie Glazier, Lombard resident and Westin employee, said the Westin Lombard hopes to help make the summer event “one of the largest blood drives” in the area.

All donors will receive a coupon from Culvers in conjunction with the “Give a Pint, Get a Pint” program and be entered into drawings for two overnight stays at the Westin and Yorktown gift cards. Additional coupons will be provided to each donor at the specific drives.

Appointments for the blood drive are appreciated – but highly recommended at the Yorktown Center location. Donors can schedule their appointment online at heartlandbc.org or by contacting Carol Bauer with the Village of Lombard, (630) 620-5712 or bauerc@villageoflombard.org.
