Celebrities Tee Up for Parks District Fundraiser

Golf anyone? Golf foursomes will be paired with a fifth player, a retired professional athlete, at the HE Parks Foundation's annual Scott R Triphahn Celebri-tee Golf Outing at Bridges of Poplar Creek Country Club on Wednesday, June 26.

Celebrity golfers include Bill Campbell (sportscaster), Ted Hendricks (former Baltimore Colts), Stan Makita (former Blackhawks), Rich Nye (former Chicago Cubs), Billy Pierce (former White Sox), Paul Popovich (former Chicago Cubs), Eric Soderholm (former Twins, White Sox), Al Weis (former White Sox) and more.

The golf outing raises funds for the Friends of the HE Parks Foundation, the charitable arm of the Hoffman Estates Park District. The HE Parks Foundation raises money for families in Hoffman Estates facing financial hardship whose children would otherwise not be able to afford to play their favorite sport, attend summer camp, take swimming lessons or go to preschool. It also funds a bus to transport low income families to community events throughout the year. In 2012, the Foundation granted more than $14,000 in scholarships.
