Oakton holds summer lectures on popular topics
Join local experts for the popular Passages Seminar, a series of potpourri lectures offered by the Emeritus Program at Oakton Community College. The 10-week session meets 1 to 2:30 p.m. Tuesdays starting June 11 at the Skokie campus, 7701 N. Lincoln Ave. The series kicks off with Walt Disney: Creativity Frame by Frame. Insights from Disney’s friends, family, and colleagues are complimented with clips from some of the showman’s finest productions. Other lectures include: The Wedgewood Influence (June 18); Chicago’s Movie Palaces (June 25); Jane Austen: From Georgian Lady to Superstar in 200 Years (July 2); The Kennedy Center Honors: A Retrospective (July 9); The Bradbury Chronicles: A Tribute to Ray Bradbury (July 16); Stephen Sondheim: Finishing the Hat (July 23); Dickens at 200 (July 30); Harold Arlen: He’s Got the World on His String (August 6); and Taste of Emeritus (August 13). The series-only fee is $45 for in-district residents age 60 and over, and $60 for out-of-district residents and those under age 60.
