Waubonsie Valley tops Lake Park

Shannon Hohman struck out eight over five scoreless innings, combining with Jordan Kurth on a five-hitter as No. 11 Waubonsie Valley beat No. 12 Lake Park 6-1 on Wednesday in Aurora.

Waubonsie (16-5, 10-3 Upstate Eight Conference), which remained a game behind Bartlett in the UEC Valley race, scored 3 times in the first inning and 3 more in the fifth. Kurth, who had the game-winner Tuesday at Neuqua Valley, went 3-for-4 and scored 2 runs and Erin Hohman doubled and drove in 2 runs.

Kelly O'Neill doubled, walked and scored the only run for Lake Park (20-8, 10-4).

Willowbrook 2, Morton 1:

Darian Pelsor struck out 11 batters, and Willowbrook (13-7, 6-2 West Suburban Gold) rallied with 2 runs in the sixth inning for its sixth straight win. The go-ahead run scored on Alyssa Ressinger's bloop single, Morton overthrowing the cutoff.

Downers Grove North 1, Oak Park 0:

Elaine Heflin (13-4) fired a one-hitter, striking out 16, for the No. 8 Trojans (18-7, 9-0 West Suburban Silver) in Oak Park. Carolyn Nojiri doubled and scored the game's only run on an Ali Woitovich single.

Naperville North 5, Glenbard East 1:

Alexis Solak went 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI, and Casey Rechenmacher (7-3) threw a four-hitter for the Huskies (11-9, 6-5 DuPage Valley Conference).
