DuPage school districts honored in Itasca

Twenty DuPage County schools were recognized in Itasca on Monday for being named to the 2012 Illinois Honor Roll, which celebrates schools showing substantial academic improvement.

Districts that received recognition include Benjamin Elementary District 25, Bensenville Elementary District 2, Bloomingdale Elementary District 13, Carol Stream Elementary District 93, Itasca Elementary District 10, Lombard Elementary District 44 and Winfield Elementary District 34.

The ceremony was held at Peacock Middle School in Itasca, and there State School Superintendent Chris Koch also spent some time talking to Nicole Marcinkus, a 7th-grader at Peacock, who interviewed Koch for the school newspaper.
