Heflin, Downers North top Plainfield South

Elaine Heflin (6-1) struck out 13, her no-hit bid broken up with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning, and No. 11 Downers Grove North knocked off previously unbeaten Plainfield South 2-0 on Saturday.

Downers Grove North (7-3) scored both its runs in the fourth inning. Maddie Wojciak and Brit Nagy singled, and with two out both scored on a dropped pop fly.

Winning pitcher Rachel Baumgartner had 2 hits and an RBI for the Blazers.
